I'm studying 3D at university at the moment and have a project to model an interior scene from film or TV. I've decided to do the bridge from Star Trek the Next Generation (Picard era):
While researching source images for this, I came upon this handy floor-plan image of the set:
So I stuck that on an image plane in Maya and made a start. Any advice thoughts/advice welcome!

Honestly I think that style will prove a challenge to nail but the whole retro sci fi thing can look really awesome when done right. Check out PogoP's recent project its set in the same style of that 70's 80's retro sci-fi and might give you a few ideas. http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137709
What engine are you planning to use? UE4 and getting friendly with PBR texturing could really help when it comes to those padded and wooden surfaces.
That first picture? I wouldn't go with that particular angle of the room for any final images. For some reason that's one they use in the show fairly often and it's one of two that makes it really obvious to me that it's just some random stuff in a room with industrial carpeting. It's something about how much space there is around everything, I think, but it has always bothered me.
BTW is there some way I can include the attached image within the main body of the post? No worries - I found a way
A lot of the textures are temporary and will be replaced as I build 'em. Any crit would be great
