Male Anatomy Study (WIP)

So making my first pass at major forms and landmarks. I'm going to have a base for the feet soon as well as refinements to the anatomy and gesture.

Major glaring issue as I post this is the torso. Particularly the abdominal and pectorals. I'm going to refine those forms as well as make feet. For now bed.

Any CC is always welcome and appreciated!

Here's an update to the sculpt.

Today I was able to refine the major landmarks in the torso, legs and arms. I also sculpted some feet, cleaned up the gesture a bit. At the moment I'm just concerned with proportions and gesture.

Admittedly I did most of my work on the profile and front of the sculpt. The back will need tlc next before moving onto the head. Still going to do some refinements and work on the back side of the sculpt.

As usual any CC is always welcome and appreciated!

Yeah I think the proportions should be the first thing you get nailed down - at the moment his head is feeling very large and the legs too small. But to me the actual anatomical details look pretty good.

Yeah they definitely are looking small. Too thin in relation to the torso. Heads more or less placeholder for now until I get in there and sculpt the face/head. Thanks for the CC! I'll be going in with those changes in mind!

So I took this base mesh as far as I'd like to push it for now. It could use a lot more work but I think I'll keep moving onto other sculpts for practice.

Also here's a super sculpty bodybuilder anatomy I started tonight. I'm going to clean it up and move to push it past the previous base mesh.

I've gotten a decent amount of progress today re hauling the anatomy as a whole. Had a little fun making the head into a orc. I plan to give him an expression and a final render but for now its ok for a base.

Let me just give you a little proportion critic!
Your character is way too small!
An average realistic dude should be about 7.5 head tall.
In video game we usually see character that fit a bit more in an ''heroic'' template also at about 8 head tall.

Yours just hit 6 1/4 head!
That's a good average man proportion check from Scott eaton's class

I was able to get at the sculpt today and get some progress. I fixed the proportions on the scale and started to flesh out the head and work my way down the abdominal.

Today I refined some major shapes for the body and cleaned things up a bit. Little by little I'm breaking up major shapes into smaller shapes for more subtle detail. More refinements and work to come.

This is looking really nice. Front view is by far the strongest though, the profile is losing the skull shape.

Your quadriceps look like extend all the way to the iliac spine. They shouldn't, they insert to the lower part of the iliac and we should see it ends lower.

Are you specifically talking about the rectus femoris dipping into the tensor fasciae? Gonna comb over the legs tonight.

Thanks man. I was taking a little creative freedom with the skull shape but I should have left a disclaimer that I was taking that direction. Otherwise the thread would mislead. Or vise vesa.

Great body sculpt. Not a fan of the head, but maybe that's just because I don't really like orc characters. To each his own. The project took a turn for the best when you lengthened those legs. Awesome job, seriously.
