Advanced Painter 3dsmax??

Just grabbed this script:

Seems it isn't working properly. Its giving an error. I am using 3dsmax 2014.
I am looking for a brush that can be used to paint geometry say grass or leaves on another geometry like wall or floor.
Any recoomendations?
I found one called Advance Painter. Wondering if there are others with better results.

Try objectPainter from Neil Blevins. He also regularly updates his tools, and loves feedback. Some great tools in here. The renamer is an essential tool for me.

Thanks Eric. Sorry if this sounds dumb.I am a little confused on how to install it. I downloaded the latest version. From the instructions,it seems u need winzip to install it to the correct folders. I have win rar or do I need to just copy each file to the correct folders in 3dsmax folder?

Okay. Thanks. One more thing, with the object painter,is there a way to fill a face with this tool or u need to paint it all over, I know of the fill tool but it seems to only work with edges.
I am kinda curious about the difference between this and the one that comes with 3dsmax. Still trying to figure out what file goes where.

There are other ways for covering one object with a bunch of other objects, like grass across a lawn, or stubble across a chin. Particle Flow is one of the best ways, and you can use Vertex Paint or Viewport Canvas to paint a mask for where things go. Google it.

What's the one that comes with Max?

For installing, you should be able to drag/drop the folders out of the zip, right into the \3dsmax folder.

Object painter was added to 3dsmax. I stumbled on it after downloading the one u posted about.

Just tried out particle flow. It's a really great tool. Thanks a lot. U have no idea how this has helped.

Put some random rotation and scaling to the leaves. Ahh and I don´t know if its possible in max but you could try to put slightly random grey tones to the particle color values. If you can access them trough the material Editor you could give it some more variation.
I did something similar with softimage ice a few months ago. But i don´t know if max can do this.

Tried what u suggested. Looks better. Thanks. I couldn't find a way color variation could be added to the particles. I will probably tweak it in post.

For more variation you could put more different leaves into the pointcloud. Maybe 3-5 different meshes and for each mesh create 2-3 material variations. This should create a more realistic effect.

I added variation to the material of the leaves using material static operator. I decided to make the variation subtle so it isn't very obvious.

I having a problem, I am trying to do a batch render of another scene containing particle flow and it is stopping after rendering one frame.
Any suggestions? I am using 3dsmax withy mental ray.

Can you share any more info? Do you get an error message? Is there anything printed in the Listener? What exact steps do you do to start a render? etc.

It turned out it was rendering out only one frame bc I forgot to put the number in the Every Nth Frame tab back to 1.
Everything is fine now.

Another problem. Rendering out ao using the ambient/ reflective material pluged into the surface shader of mental ray shader material.I plugged this to the overide slot in the render settings tab.
Problem is the mesh in the renders look faceted with hard edges. Whereas when rendered with normal materials and in the viewport. They look smooth. Does anyone know how this can be fixed?
