Marmoset 2 Seam at a distance?

Hey everyone, I'm getting this weird seam in Marmo 2, it's showing a seam and I don't know why

. It only shows up when I zoom out a little ways.

I've checked each of my textures, and it doesn't appear until the albedo map is imported, so it has to be something to do with the albedo. Any idea?

I think your shell padding is too small.

Can that still be the problem, even though in the UV's, it clearly shows it goes over the UV line?

I'll try to re do it with the edge padding a little larger in XNormal.

+1 on padding, or even leaving a bit more space between regions of different colors. Zooming out means a higher mipmap level is used, which is a downsized version of your texture. You can imagine with downsizing the risk of UV regions influencing each others color values gets higher and higher.

This is almost surely your problem...as you zoom out, ur texture gets smaller due to mipping and the lighter color bleeds into ur textured colors...increase your padding.

It worked! I got a solution AND a reason why, awesome!

My second question I suppose is, should I go back and allow more space in between all my UV's? Do you think I packed them too close?

depends on what is in your shells, similar materials can be closer. in general there is no "too much padding" close all gaps with it and you will be fine

Your uvs islands are a bit too close together yes, you may still have issues even with more post-padding. Easy enough to check though.

You have a lot of unused space, so you could probably repack with more space between islands, without losing any resolution (possibly gaining some).

I actually still have a bit more to model, like a few more assets, so that space is kind of reserved for those assets.

I think they're close, but I suppose I'll find out soon. fingers crossed they aren't!
