zbrush workflow/uv question

I have a high poly and a low poly whose retopology was created from the high poly. The low poly has UVs. How do I get the low poly UVs onto the high poly?

In UV master, I tried copying the low poly UVs and pasting them on the high poly, but I got an error message; Incompatible UVs, cannot paste the buffered UVs onto this tool.

What sargentcrunch said. If you must UV the highpoly, the approach that I've used is to append the lowpoly as a subtool of the highpoly mesh, subdivide the lowpoly and then use the "project all" function in the subtool menu to get your details from the old highpoly mesh to your new one.

or are you trying to bake polypaint to the low poly? that's the only reason why your high poly would need to have uvs. Even then the high poly's uvs would just be a quick planar unwrapping you could do in zbrush. just guessing that this is what you're trying to do though.

Yeah, I was trying to bake polypaint, also wanted to render out the normals. Thanks Brandon, "project all" was what I was looking for.

Unfortunately the normals from zbrush (I flipped G and everything!) look absolutely hideous in 3ds max. I also tried creating the normals in 3ds max using the process described in a digital tutors video. They still look gash. Xnormal doesn't work for me. Any tips/tricks I should be aware of? Is there a fourth baking option?

Just use xnormal, it is able to read zbrush polypaint as vertex colour and can bake it to a low poly.

Ok, looks like I have xnormal working. On my latest char "project all" hasn't been as successful and is omitting very important details. So I'm going to try to do things in xNormal. How do I export a mesh w/ polypaint data? When I use decimation master it destroys the polypaint data it seems.
