I like the shape of my current model, the only thing that i dont know how to do is the red area... maybe some kind of beltbuckle... i dont know... i think i will do some kind of buckle

i just have a small problem deciding, what to do...
What does look better? The back will always look the same:
The one on the right I would say. I would also be tempted to unwrap it symmetrically considering how close to symmetrical it would be.

Also the gem seems kinda out of place maybe shape it a bit more like the space that it sits in.
i will try a different gem, maybe a square one looks the best... we will see

With that said, if you want a more rigid cut gem maybe something like this:
Or to keep in touch with your really nice organic shapes take the simpler one on the left and give it some irregularity like your current one has. All I was saying was maybe a gem that fills in the space completely will work better.
on the top on the bottom i'm loosing a lot of uv space and therefore texture resolution...
so... am i allowed to put for example other pieces in there to get some more out of my us map?
