Thats what i'm currently working on
But i dont really know what to do with his shoulder parts... do you guys have any idea?
i would be very thankfull for an idea
Hmm...
I like the shape of my current model, the only thing that i dont know how to do is the red area... maybe some kind of beltbuckle... i dont know... i think i will do some kind of buckle
Maybe you guys know some kind of mechanism that would work as well :-D
i found a few shapes of buckles i really like, but i have no idea how to integrate both straps into it... maybe you guys have an idea or a better mechanism ^^
You mean front to back symmetry? It kiiiind of works, it doesnt fit exactly mirrored front to back but to be honest if you unwrap it uniquely I think you still have enough texture resolution to make it work.
Hah, you are right Spudnik. I was pretty ill when I posted that, I should have been paying more attention.
(You should probably just ignore me in future Phoenix995)
With that said, if you want a more rigid cut gem maybe something like this:
Or to keep in touch with your really nice organic shapes take the simpler one on the left and give it some irregularity like your current one has. All I was saying was maybe a gem that fills in the space completely will work better.

thank you guys in advance
i just have a small problem deciding, what to do...
What does look better? The back will always look the same:
The one on the right I would say. I would also be tempted to unwrap it symmetrically considering how close to symmetrical it would be.
Just a thought.
Also the gem seems kinda out of place maybe shape it a bit more like the space that it sits in.
i will try a different gem, maybe a square one looks the best... we will see
or do you like any of those more?

on the top on the bottom i'm loosing a lot of uv space and therefore texture resolution...
so... am i allowed to put for example other pieces in there to get some more out of my us map?
Here we go, i did some changes on the uv layout
what do you guys think?
here is the model with the final texture resolution
what do you guys think?
That's the true test. Your details do seem about the right size, just eyeballing it.
What do you think?
