How to texture glass for scopes

Hey guys, now let me explain, i am making a few scopes and i am wondering how do they texture the glass for the scopes? I have been trying but i seem to have a really bad looking glass. Is there a special way its made to look good? Thanks

If you are going to do it in a realistic way it is only material work. You would need a reflective shader which reflects a cubemap and has transparency.

But the best would be if you would show us what you got so far.

Base your approach around how you plan to implement it in the game/presentation. Does it actually need to be functional? Does the game use 3d scopes or a 2d overlay? What is the actual optic like?
