Hi. I'm new to 3d, and I want to know which program should I learn for my purposes.

Hi. I'm new to 3D as I said. I have installed Blender and I have made a couple of small things with Cinema 4D a long time ago.

I want to work with static geometric shapes and patterns (I'm not interested in animation) and only a little in coloring, but I'd like to have flexibility to create effects like water or an explosion o light effects some day.

Is a good choice Blender? I've also thought of using Sculptris. (I'm thinking preferably in free programs).

if you're learning from scratch blender is a good choice - it'll prep you well for Maya and Max if / when you move into a professional environment.

Sculptris is a specialist sculpting app - it's there to complement your main package rather than replace it - it's really quite nice so there's no reason not to grab it and have a go.

there are educational licenses for the expensive packages if your circumstances allow. if you're planning this as a career it would help to have experience in Max and or Maya when you go looking for jobs but it's not going to be a deal breaker if you're an awesome artist.
