Awesome concept and a really nice low poly project.

I really like your block-out so far. It's got the correct proportions and has a nice poly allocation in terms of it being a reasonably low-poly building.

Only crit i would give at the moment is that personally i feel like your roof is very flat and square compared to the concept. All though i think the curve on the roof in the concept is due to the crazy perspective. I cant help but feel that raising the front edge of your roof line would add to the character that the building has. Just a thought...

That's a good point! I will try to get rid of some of the straighter lines on the model

Also got pointed out that the shop in front should not be going outwards as I thought, but rather is just a door going inwards. My eyes betrayed me!

Oh yeah, now that you mention it, i see what you mean! Looks like the door with the steps in front could just be the access to the flats above and the wooden one is the actual shop door.

I look forward to seeing the changes. It's a crazy concept. I only just noticed the rune like sign above the door.

I wonder what the identity/purpose of the building is? Abandoned apothecary/potion shop perhaps?

Will you be aiming to replicate the 'painterly' style with the texturing?

Yeah, I think that's how it must be!
I read in some of her comments for the concept that it was supposed to be a wine and food shop, but potions would be suiting. The symbols and the lamp hanging from the wall makes it look like it isn't an ordinary building/shop.
I will try to do something similar with the textures! I like this soft texture style, but maybe I'll try to get in some more material definition.

Awesome concept and great block out. The main thing I see different is the roof is losing some of its character/silhouette. In the concept the back half is more curved with the front much steeper, almost shading itself-if that makes sense.

I put in some more shape to different parts of the building, especially the roof, here and redid the shop opening. Geometry needs some cleaning up.
I need to get some new stuff into my portfolio asap, so I'm thinking that I may leave the backside simple, without any windows or anything. Maybe just not taking shots from that angle. Is that okay you think or too cheaty?
Also, don't really know what to do with the windows that open inwards and the big hole at the top right corner as I don't want to spend time doing any interior... suggestions?

Started doing some texture work. The UVs aren't really finished (and I sadly messed them up a bit..) but one can get an idea of how it's going to look.
I'm working with two 2k textures.

texture work seems great. I think the concept is amazing as well, but i do feel as if the 2D image is a tad more organic and alive.I do feel that you could push the silhouette a bit more on the roof as well as the left vertical wall to address this.
just creating a very subtle bend/wave to break the vertical wall would make that feel a bit more alive in my opinion.
as for the roof i believe you could push the overall shape to break the feeling of it feeling like extruded boxes.

The use of texture really allows your style to shine through. Also, the color scheme is an excellent use of warm colors, and the lighting helps draw that out too. As a critique it would all come down to deepening the shadows to give it more contrast. Other than that this seems to be a strong piece.

Here's an update!

Made some slight changes to try and make it look less blocky. Though maybe I should push the silhouette even more. Amped up the AO and tried a different light setting in marmoset, blue sky, to give more contrast to the shadows.

I think you could do a better night time render if you had a little bit of a cool light coming onto the front of the building, and maybe a rim light as well.. The left of the image is just a really large dark hole that takes away from the model in my opinion.

I think a great reference to look at is La Luna from Pixar

Lovely style! Nice work

The lighting in the daytime shot along with the texture is, as other said, warm and nice!
Quite heavy with two 2k textures though for a low poly; is it going to be used for any specific project?

Yeah, that's definitely a bit high. I just made this for my portfolio, so I went a little high with the textures, they could be resized to half the size at least
