LOD creation for grass

I`m working on a Level where certain area`s of the Terrain is covered in Grass, but i`ve got some pretty low FPS (24) because i dont have any LOD`s for my grass. Can anyone tell me step bye step what i got to do for creating these LOD`s in 3ds-Max ?

Theres no real way to create lods for grass since there mostly alpha cards anyway. Plus the engine won't LOD to a less expensive version if the polies aren't less than 50% of the previous mesh.

One problem could be overdraw if you have a lot over overlapping alpha pixels. Easiest way to solve this is contradictory to the lodding process, in that you need to make the mesh fit the texture more by adding more geometry, thus saving on the amount of alpha pixels on the mesh.

The problem is not the Polycount but its the DrawCall/DP if the engine have to render all of the grass when its not just one object the FPS will drop.

Instead of having a small clump of grass try to create wider clumps of grass and your FPS will increase
