Influences still there after deleting joints

I had a rig. I deleted it because it simply wasn't adequate, but the old influences are still there. What I can do? I tried Google, could'nt find anything...

Did you delete history on the skinned mesh?

You have to detach the skin, delete history, and then re-attach it to the new root joint of the new rig.
