...with a portfolio that you know will grow in the next month.
There are a couple studios that I am interested in, and 1 that had an informal interview with. I have a portfolio that I want to send off to their HQ, but I KNOW I will have more to add in the coming month. Stuff that will replace my old pieces. But I want to get my application to them before the position is gone. Should I send them my portfolio now, and then update them a month later with new portfolio pieces? Or should I wait until those new pieces are done, so that I avoid any awkwardness?

That being said, I plan on finishing the piece before I start applying if that helps your decision at all. I figure put your best foot forward.
Just don't fall into the mindset of, "one more piece, then I'll be ready, ok maybe one more, alright, one more and then I'll definitely be ready."
Remember you're competing against the world for a job. The last thing you want is to look completely outclassed by new blood.

That's pretty neat.
I would prefer it if the link at the end led me to some images rather than another video though. (that video was rather dark)
Also, putting your portfolio link in the description would help too. It just keeps people from having to fastforward your video to get to the end.

Really novel idea Aerial_Knight, congrats.
another con about having a video demo reel like you have is it's not as fast to iterate on as just updating images.
When you get into the groove, you'll find you'll be creating assets so fast that it will become cumbersome to keep a video updated.
