These are amazing! Every one of these are rich with personality and unique detail. They're all so believable and even if you've never played the game, you can get a sense of their personality.
Thanks you all for your kind words and compliments about our work on Dishonored, it is really rewarding to see our art appreciated.
@Kevin Johnstone : Thank you ! Your env work is awesome ! @BoBo_the_seal : Thank you ! you and your team did a great great job on DarkSider, so inspirational ! @sltrOlsson, @yodude87, @Makkon : I've talked to the env artists, you should see some of their work in the coming days ! @Goldo_O : Thank you my friend ! See you soon ! @OrganizedChaos : no style guide per se. But good concepts and communication with the Art Director. @Renaud Galand : Great portofolio ! @r3spawn : For the characters, we used Maya, Zbrush, Mudbox, topogun, photoshop. @rv_el, @dustinbrown : There is no art book for the moment.
I had a quick question regarding the real-time asset presentation. Are you using anything special for that? It looks like KeyShot, but I could be completely wrong
this is one my favorite characters in the game. i paused and starred at this character while playing the game. the slight green eye shade is a great touch.
So I bought Dishonored a while ago on black friday, found it locally for $25 and thought it a steal.
I finally installed it this past week - one of my favorite games of all time. I haven't played a more polished feeling title in a long time, it was beautiful. I remember saying to my wife, that games could never get looking better than this and I'd be ok with that - so long as they had the same level of consistency and atmosphere.
Top notch stuff, to see it presented here is a real treat.
@Renaud Galand : The screenshots are done in Maya/Mental-Ray with some post in photoshop. @Two Listen : Thank you ! @roosterMAP : The Wolfhound is a mix of a dog, rat, giraf, and crocodile. Finding the silhouette that worked for us took some iterations as you can guess.
Instantly saved all these shots to my inspiration folder. Sculpting is superb and you guys handled that style so well. Great work, can't wait to see what else you guys come up with
Fantastic work! I'm sorry if this was asked already but what do you use to showcase your characters? The final versions are they showcased from Max or Maya Viewport? Just wondering

looking forward to the enviro art dump
What software do you (the artists who worked on this game) use?, if you don't mind me asking
Between Dishonored, Batman, Brink and more European game companies are owning style! Owning it.
Such a great game too.
also your work is awesome, love the busts!
and these are some other characters we have worked on for Dishonored.

Also, I'd be very interested to hear about your creative process and your source(s) of inspiration. Some of the characters are obviously heavily inspired by mugshots found in the book [ame=http://www.amazon.com/LEAST-WANTED-Mark-Michaelson/dp/3865212913/ref=sr_1_43?ie=UTF8&qid=1357838749&sr=8-43&keywords=mugshot+book]"LEAST WANTED"[/ame] but I'd be curious to know more about your stylization process and any other material used as reference for the character pipeline.
Can't wait for the next update
