[Dota2] - Doom Bringer - Destroyer Set

(hopefully I can think of a more creative name for the set at one point...)

Anywho, first off I'm designing the sword. Once I get that done, I figure the design of the armour will come much easier.

I'll probably go with the second silhouette, as I really want to have a bulky dude.

Awesome! Surprised I missed this. I like the second and fourth weapon silhouettes. I honestly really like all of the helmets, with preference going to the bottom one and middle left. It's a tough decision, though.

Weapon, yea 2nd last is strongest.

Helmet 2nd 1 (first right), 3rd 1 (2nd left) and last 1 (lowest).

Hard to pick numbering will help next time

Nice helmet concepts, if i had to choose (all of them are great) i would go with Bottom, Top Right, or middle left. Although Top left has a bunch of potential too.

For the helmet, I'd take the top horns from 2 (top right) or 5 (very bottom) and put them on the top of helmet 1 (upper left), so you have 2 sets of horns. I really like your 2D style, looks very cool!

Also, numbering your concepts makes in much easier to critique

The middle/left helmet is very angular and looks very cool, as does the bottom one.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I posted the helmets on facebook and one of my friends said that top left was too similar to Sven. I decided to go with the Sauron-esque one, but with bigger tusks. I really wanted to go for the " I WILL f*ck you up" kind of look.

As for the sword, originally I wanted to have it as a magical fire chainsaw, with spinning fire orb gears in the center powering it. However it looks like I wont be able to add animations or animated textures. So I'll probably replace the floaty blades with something a bit more traditional when I start to model it.

You _may_ be able to use a detail mask to for those spinning blades, there's definitely some animated textured in-game and if I understand it correctly it's accomplished using detail masks.

As for the concept itself, it may just be me but it has a really Cthulhu-esque vide, really fucking creepy! I like how the shape of the tusks is mimic'ed in the chest armor, maybe you could adjust the (face) tusks a little bit so they're a bit wider at the base to better match the shapes? Other than that, it's a damn strong concept!

Thanks man! Now that you mention the cthulhu thing, I'm tempted to add a couple more sets of small horns at the front...

Threw on the Dark Knight soundtrack, opened a beer, and cracked down on the helmet tonight. Tomorrow I should have the bracers and shoulders done...perhaps sword too. Then sculpting time

damn, a lot of awesome design for the Doom bringer, you sure got yourself some hard competition!
I'm liking the helmet, except for the elephant teeth,
it doesn't really fit the character for me and if they did the are way to small, defenetly in side view!

Ooooh, I have a soft spot for cthulhu-esque things. Dig that helmet. Perhaps need to be a bit chunkier to have better impact at distance.

Uh... Of course it's ultimately up to Valve to make the final decision but to me the face deviates way too much from the original design

Thanks for all the comments guys. Sadly, my computer crashed during a save so I lost all my work (corrupt scene). Didn't back it up because I'm an idiot. Oh well. Probably won't have time for this contest as I start work this week, but I'll see what I can do. If I try to do it again I'll go with a different design.
