How to model a mush for a garbage bag

Hi guys i am working on a class project, we have been getting new assets every week, this week i was assigned a trash can with a trash bag in it, and over it, i am a bit confused on how i should go about modeling a trash bag without making the polys too high sort of like this trash bag

Are there any limits to this particular project; can you use a normal map?

Two options. Either sculpt the thrashbag then retopo. Or the cheap version assign a photo source and use ndo or crazybump to create a normal map. Your low poly doesn't actualy have to be very detailed because the normal map will do the job. I also probably wouldn't bother to make the bag thin around the edge because for such a simple prop no player will crawl under the model and check if it's actualy thin like a real bag. Just get the general shape right.

I have not much experience with it so I am not sure if you can also simulate these "plastic effects" along the surface. Maybe someone else can shed their experience on this matter

I am using maya, and thanks aloti suppose the normal map could just push in the details of the folds of a trash bag, and the mesh could easily just be a few polys thanks alot guys!

I would sculpt it, hard to make a good normalmap from such a photo imo.
