the cryengine and ivy

hey guys
i'm trying to create some ivy and i'm quite happy with my results so far

i created this with guruwares ivy generator and it's quite high poly
so my question is: can the cryengine handle these ivy meshes at 5-10k polys each when instanced like 100 (or even more) times? (it's going to be a big city

) or do i need to find another solution?

Thats really high, you should bake it down into normal maps and maybe consider LODs if it going to cover a city.

you cant have one polygon for every leaf. you need to figure out how to make it work with more than one leaf per polygon.

or then you'll need to up the size of the leaves and lower the amount.

You should check how this guy made his foliage. It is impressive, and probably along the lines of what you are trying to achieve.

Baking some simple planar LOD models for that ivy should be rather easy.
