painting displacement texture in zbrush

so i've got my alpha:
and i've got my mesh:
What would be the best way to apply the fabric texture to the mesh?

what about this: the noise isnt applying properly on the surface. its like projecting the noise from the top (instead of applying it evenly)

i think i had UV's on it.
im not sure though since i had a ton of different versions of the same tool...
will check tomorrow

The best bet is to make the UV seams match the fabric's, then it will behave quite like normal cloth wrapped and sewed around an object.
Otherwise, I think you'd have to mask off the sides to prevent the warping, and then rotate the mesh and apply it again. I stick with UVs though
