[DS2] Axe, specsowl

I posted last night and decided my concept wasn't solid enough to start modeling. Not only that, but Zbrush isn't ideal for what I want to do with this model. I have a new and more defined concept that I hope to stick with.
This is for an Angelic Axe

Here's what I sculpted in Zbrush. I'm going to scrap it, but its more or less what I hope to achieve in Maya. The angel in the middle is also going to change.

I like the blades in combination with the spikes! Maybe try to let the arms make the start of the axeblades?

Try and get that nice outward curve in the lower blade similar to the middle design of your concept. But I'd push it a bit further.

Here's just a quick progress update. I started over and made the base mesh in Maya. I'll be working on the angel tomorrow.

I think you should make the spikey things on the sides larger. Just feels like the Darksiders style calls for larger larger pieces instead of thin ones.

TypicalDan, I think your right. I made a few designs to try and figure out what I want to do as far as spikes go. I'm leaning towards 3 or 6

Also, before I begin sculpting, I made a paint over to decide where I want the detail.

I have a basic sculpt of the angel in Zbrush and I'm trying to decide how detailed I want it. I don't want hyper-realism, so I'll have to play around with it.

I agree with 3 and 6, though I think they could still be heavier. Maybe more of those spikes to fill the gap with a winglike shape in 6?

edit: Ah sculpt got added as I wrote, but I still think bulky. The figure looks a little hunched though. Maybe make him more graceful if it's angelic?
