ooooooook- first pass on normals and textures- baked polypaint down plus xnormal cavity map and some PS cleanup- still some normal issues and seams to deal with. No tail yet- eyes are just a material and no spec.
thanks Jessica-small progress- got her in max using the Xoliul2 shader testing some color for her cloth piece- spec is progressing - im using a very cheesy gloss map atm ill tidy up later- couple of seems and whatnot to clean up-and the meat hooks and cloth alpha still need to be done- as always glad to hear what you guys have to say
thanks lizzzzz- i definately want it to be ugly. Also I'm ditching the tail- it wasnt bringing anything to the table- and she already has a bunch going on. Also this shader is pretty damn slick
If the tail is gone, then her butt cheeks are now spread wide for no good reason... The tail looks really cool in the concept, maybe it didn't look cool because it wasn't posed?
Something that I think could be improved is the breasts. They look like a woman with an A-cup wearing a C-cup bra; that is to say, they don't convincingly look pushed up or as if they are filling the skeletal hands. I think it would be a lot more effective if the skeletal hands were grasping the skin. It'd also stick more to the theme of the demon and flesh being intertwined.
What kind of material are you aiming for with the demon parts? Bone? Lava Rock? It's technically not real but that makes it even more difficult to define.
Keep it up man, you're close to the finish now. I've been following the thread from the start, sorry I didn't give crits pre-bake.
hehe ok I'll keep the tail:) not too happy with the sculpt so I'll hit that up later tonight. As far as the weapon goes- I think I'm going with the staff so that nasty ass bird can perch on it-Thanks guys- KyleParsons- good points I'll try and manipulate the low res to get a better more full feeling to the chest. Armor material is definately hard to define- but I am thinking some sort of rough metal-ish material- i want it to feel organic but sharp and unnatural..which is wierd..I know.
thanks again all- always appreciated!I'll get an update here soon.
thanks again all!-back in maya- default phong setup, realtime grab-adjusting spec map, some tweaks on the diffuse- the red cloth was a fantastic suggestion guys, tail is back in and I was even able to get it on the same texture.wooooshhh
I like the red better for the loincloth but I kinda miss the designs you had on the old one. i think the skin could benefit from some subtle veins showing though the skin maybe something darker than the usual. i think it might look good near the areas where the bare skin meets the bone armor. Nothing too crazy just a subtle touch of corruption.
This is the only example i could find of what i am talking about i dunno if its got a specific name.
Glad to see you haven't forgotten about this! Was looking sweet the last time I saw it. I think adding some discoloration and veins on the skin would do wonders.
Needs for corruption in the skin. With her beings so pale her veins would stand out quite easily and even more so in the area's where the pinching is happening in the demon armor and herself.
nice, now she'd definitely fit in a diablo style game.
i wish the sword didn't have such a silly blade shape though. it seems too exaggerated compared to the style of character.
i think it would look better with a longer and thinner blade.
Sukotto ,JoshC,- Thanks! I have some suttle veins happening I've been avoiding pushing them too dark though
Blaisoid, -I'll experiment with a different blade type- thanks for the input!
I'll probably be doing one more pass to attempt to finish it off with all the crits in mind(received several others at work/waywo thread as well) As always more crits/comments welcomed- Thanks for lookin
This is a character that earns an NC-17 rating. I think you should put her on a small platform and you have to ditch the gradient in the background -- the JPG artifacts really distract from your piece. Just pick a flat color and use that instead.
one thing that still distracts me is how bright the blood is on diffuse. it looks pretty much like red paint.
unless it's supposed to be paint in the first place.
i can imagine that if it was dark it wouldn't be visible in skull's eye sockets and on cloth but still.
i agree that platform would be cool.
the pose is pretty good imo.
thanks for the feedback and kind words everyone! I'll definitely keep this stuff in mind for next time. Of course, any other thoughts/crits are appreciated.
great stuff Dan!....there may be something mentally wrong with me, but my favourite part of this piece is the bleeding eyesockets on the knee pads...excelent.

Not digging the green writing on the cloth. Move that to maybe a orangey red or something. Play around with that.
The pet sketches are really nice. I like the top left bird head. That bird chillin on some wizard staff would be cool.

Looking great man. I really wish she had the vulture or staff though. Not sold on the sword.
