I've been working on a science fiction scene over the holidays. And here's what I've got so far:

An untextured WIP building set - seen here in the UDK test level

the highpoly models for the set above

I'm planning on building a small level with this style of architecture/machinery and some natural elements. Here are some sketches I've done as a sort of style guide:

I like the panels as individual pieces/props in a scene, but to me they don't read well as walls to a building. Might just need more context

You are right. I think it's because there's no sense of connectivity with the structure on those panels. I will keep those assets as variants and work on some new panels.

Yeah, I agree that it doesn't work as a wall, as it is, maybe if there was some more solid, base corners. I can imagine it work better as something that stands side by side around a cylinder though.

Looks interesting but what is that? A house, a bunker...What is the purpose of this building?

added barnacles and rock to the pillar model:

it's going to be part of a pier structure so needs barnacles.

can't wait to see more! It could be really interesting, just try to have a think about how you-re going to break up the repetition.

did some more work and imported these assets into cryengine:

the man on the end is the default cryengine character - just to check scale.

Edit: I switched engines to cryengine for a change.
