I have finally started a new personal project after making my Jeep

Im now making a Warhammer Bombard

Quick shot of the high poly sofar to get the thread started. Still a lot to do

I've made the low poly first this time and I'm finding it to be a much better workflow for me

Would love any crits or comments!

Had the time to do some more work on this. Here is the low poly and some of my refs. Im going to go on to baking once the back arm part is made so I would love crits on the low poly model. Or high poly

I cant wait to texture this one, I have no idea what colour I'm going to pick yet though!

thanks. Actually, I have run in to my first baking problem. Here is a close up of the low poly side of the track box

Basically, I'm not sure how to best unwrap this for baking and to optimise my UV's. I'd like to keep the geometry there as the whole low poly is only just under 8000 tris atm. I'm not sure if I can unwrap this section as one piece or I have to leave it split up how it is atm. Any tips?

i'd just attach that shell to the main shell behind it (the bottom right big section), the normal map should be able to bend round that ledge. either that or just hide that shell inside the gap

the low poly is about 9000 tris atm.

Just a quick update on the high poly, made the back ammo arm and front blade:) I think I'm going to make some sandbags to break the hard surface stuff up a little bit and possibly give the front blade some damage in zbrush. Almost done with the low poly and baking too so will post that next!

Finally got updates!!

My low poly ended up at 11,652 tris. I started painting the diffuse today so I have a long way to go but would love some crits

Looks great. I'd personally prefer to see it textured in the yellow scheme shown in your reference but it's still brilliant! I look forward to seeing it when it's finished.

I'm loving the direction you're going with this. The only crit I've got right now is it's looking very clean. Gotta remember it's called warhammer 40k for a reason

But of course, what you do with the model regarding that is really up to you!
As far as decals are concerned, are you going to make this part of a specific faction? That'll help with what you put on it/if you need a specific color scheme. The 14 might be a little large as well.
Regarding the polycount- those cylindrical dodads on the side bottom there seem rather high- did you try seeing how it looked if you had just baked them down?

I have had a really rough play about with colours and wanted to get some opinions. I'm not going for a particular Warhammer faction or anything, just a colour scheme I like. The colours are very rough so it would be great to get an idea of preferences before I continue

I agree Camo looks best to me too. This is looking really nice. Vehicles are always fun because each piece is like it's own little model in and of itself.

I might try to add some details to the arm in back because right now it seems a bit un interesting in terms of texture. But I'm guessing you're getting to it.

Ok so I worked it up some more and have switched it to yellow

I really feel like its working nicer now. I can switch it about pretty easy and have loads still to go on it so I would love some crits!! Still no specular on it atm. Please crit away

A little crit- Some of the areas look like they've had a lot more attention than others- the back crane piece really looks plain compared to the rest of the model, as well as the front plow(an area where you would expect the most wear), specifically the side of it. The caution stripes read a bit confusing on the yellow as well-

Looks great! I'd sharpen up the tracks a little bit and make areas around the tracks a lot dirtier with more chipped off paint. Same with the bucket teeth at the front. Good job so far.

Super sick! I think the spec map could use more intensity and contrast, though, especially in areas of worn/exposed metal. A little more contrast in gloss across materials would also be very helpful.

Hi amasing job, just few things that will make it "wow".

Judging from the front arm (bulldozer thing) the amount of wear and tear it has gone through, keeping that in mind I would dirty up the track with dust, grunge etc. The covering of tracks will have more scratches inside (the area imdediatly next to tracks on eachside). Outside area is fine. The panel work will have dust, scratches, mud like stuff etc between those black lines where panels meet (Armour plates).
I assume the parts that are holding the cannon are hydrolic, they go inside with the cannon when its fired (the grey cylinders on each side of cannon), If so than a very subtle line scratches will be there to indicate use of machinery. Lastly the stiching like marks on main cannon are breaking up the overall feel of real, It looks as if artist put them their on purpose but have nothing to do with actual thing. In other words they look out of place.
Also notice that the gears to rotate the cannon will suffer from heavy scratches and lot of wear and tear as would in real life.

My feedback is based on your Orange, Red cammo version.
