Hello. I'm new here and am using this thread as a catalog for the assets I'm creating for my senior project. I'll try to start off my posts with concept sketches of the objects I'll be modeling, then show screens of the low poly place holders. It won't be until the end of the quarter till everything will be finalized, so any comments are welcome!

You could cut out a lot of the edges on the hand and foot here. The edges on the flat sides aren't adding any detail so just get rid of them. Unless this is really early work, in which case, I dunno why you're showing them

Looks good, is smooth preview on? I can't really think of anything to critique it on. Maybe curl the leaves just a tad to try and get a better profile silloette. But it already has a nice profile. Maybe you can save this version to rig and play with another one to pose just as a stand in. Idk man, Looks good as is, Im just trying to look active. -____-

Nice job. I'd say the only issue so far is that the leaves are a tad roundish. You could also make the inner spikes look sharper too, to make things much more intimidating. Other than that, this is a great placeholder.

The concept is pretty cool. How ever all that style and nice shapes are lost in the 3D version. Maybe try and create a model sheet in 2D first to flesh out the shapes.Otherwise keep going!

Thanks for the comment and critique Justin. Since the camera in our game is going to be fairly far away from the character, we're putting most of the detail on the textures themselves. Here are some barrels:

Clean start. I would bring in the shoulders and hips in a bit. He's a little more slender. And just a tip, the sculpt geometry tool works well for getting rid of the boxy edges. Just set the opacity low and give those sharp edges a light swipe.

i really think you should spend more than 2 minutes on something before posting. Seriously, you extruded a cylinder a couple times and decided that was good enough. (hint: it sucks)

Yes, take your time. You're just extruding and throwing in a few primitives here and there. Also, look at reference. For the plant, look at aloe plants, or something. Because, yes, none of this looks particularly effort-full.

Before I post, I just wanted to remind everyone posting in this thread (other than my teammates and teacher) that these models are placeholders. THEY ARE NOT FINAL. THEY AREN'T THAT GREAT BECAUSE WE'RE TRYING TO GET THEM IMPORTED IN TO UDK IN ORDER TO BUILD THE LEVEL. I AM REQUIRED TO POST AT LEAST 5 TIMES EACH WEEK IN THIS THREAD. Good, stuff, keep going as fast as possible. Any sign of the foliage alpha planes placeholders?

Concept paint the stingdrift for some agressive insectoid patterns, and play with an alpha mask for a glow map that will make him easy to see in game.

In general I think all the critters should be larger judging from the screen size, & character pixel-size on screen. Please address the enemy scale as a group, & have everyone repost with the new scale live in game for review. Post images of the test so we can comment.

Your textures really compliment your modeling. And by that I mean it looks like you spent less than 5 minutes on them (again). I get that theyre placeholders, but literally everything about this looks sloppy.

If you shrug off critique now, you won't get it when you need it. What's the point of posting if you don't want critique? If your teacher is making you post, tell him to stop it. You should post because you want critique, not because you want a grade.
