Drinking Fountain

Hello! I'm working on a high poly model of a drinking fountain in 3ds Max.

Here's my main reference image (although I've incorporated some elements from other images too):

looks pretty sweet. The thing that the water squirts out from seems very edgy though. try to keep it rounded as in the photo..

Nice start, as an observation from the photo reference, the dip at the end of the basin could be a little deeper and maybe thicken the edge of the basin a little more, but otherwise really nice

I like the model but the drain-piece bothers me. The water wouldn't drain fully as it's raised so you'd get stagnant water collecting in a puddle around it.

I'd invert it personally. Also a very minor thing but I'd make the little dip on the tapless side a little bigger.

Also, I've now done the low poly and unwrapped it.

I'd be glad for any suggestions about unwrapping/packing the UVs. Thanks.

If the texturing is fairly clean, a lot of the model could share the same UV's, meaning you have tiling trims for some parts (like the pipes). If the texturing is more grungry, worn and old, you could do similar as before, but with a bit more in planning.

Alternatively, if it will be a clean piece, their may be the possibility of using a modulated shader recreating the look of porcelain and chrome with a Multi-Sub Object material. This removes the need for diffuse textures, requiring normals only.
