I've been a lurker here for quite some time now - I finally feel I have something of worth to show
Plus, I saw that I'd been mentioned in the "faceting as a stylistic choice" thread, so I thought I'd show my face
(thanks
gavku)
I've started work on an iPad + Android book with the working title of The Paper Fox. I've created some characters for the book and an environment thus far (some examples below).
I'm using the crowd funding model to sell fine art prints of the work I've done thus far to kick the book into high gear. So far the funding has gone amazingly well, but I'm hoping to raise enough cash to bring some other folk on board and turn it into an animated, scored, interactive experience. More info in the links below. If anyone has any questions about the technical aspects, I'd be happy to answer them!
And if you reeeaaaalllly like the idea/concept/art, please think about buying a print (comes with a snazzy badge!)

While ipad picture book is all good, rad and well, this should totally be a video-game, just saying :P
So, is that simply a tiling paper texture ?
Gorgeous stuff, congrats!
excellent work, i'll show my daughter tomorrow and get some feedback for you from her if you'd like?
@TeriyakiStyle - thankyou sir, that would be excellent!
@eqil - i have a couple of friends who are very keen to animate it. Im hoping i can pay them for their time because i'd love to see it in motion too.
@almighty_gir - haha most certainly. This is pretty much for adults to read to their kids, so im hoping to inspire both audiences
@pior - yep - all tiling textures with a normal, displacement and diffuse.
Thanks again guys.
Feel free to repost this anywhere you like, the more people that see the pozible page and increase the funding, the better the project will get.
any chance of getting some wires on those models? I'm interested to see how you got the paper look - it's very convincing.
would love to see a game made in this style.
just imagine, skippy animations, and a relaxing game play, pretty nice music and absolutely amazing art style... it would be an amazing game actually, provibably would sell really good
@Sectaurs - i'll post up some wires in the next day or two.
@Gannon - when i get into full production (once the funding part is over) i might try making a vid
I can totally see this concept as a game also. If the book works out well, then I'm certainly not ruling it out.
But in other news, I'm totally fucking in LOVE with it Really, really fantastic art design, so fresh, haven't seen it before. Colour me interested
the direwolves latin name is Canis Dirus, it's quite specifically different from Canis Lupis, which is the latin term for many wolves including some dog species.
@almighty_gir - haha great! The target audience is pleased. It bodes well! Thanks for the Latin tip as well. The Latin I've learned is clearly just from wikipedia
@Sectaurs - As requested, here's some wires. As you can see, they're very low poly and quite simple.
Congrats on the funding! alot of people really love this!
A+ on the art style, you nailed it!

Lovely, charming, fresh, inspiring work. Those wire shots are great, too. Awesome stuff
Can't wait to see where this goes.
