how u do dem cloths

What im seeing alot lately, and in tons of games, is clothing actually being meshed into the low poly, yet sculpted separately on the high poly. Im assuming its for animation.

It oddly meshes right in with he perfect topology

How is this done? Its really bugging me

Retopologize the high resolution sculpt of the cloth? That's how i do it anyway.

Can you retopo across geometry?

Also, whats some good (Free please) retopo programs, I fear there are none and it really bums me out trying to be a character artist.

Topogun is great for retopo, if a bit unstable. A lot of people also use Zbrush's built-in retopo tools, or the tools that come with 3D Coat.

You can retopo in max, too. Just use a script like MaxRetopo, or polyboosts retopo tools.

Im stuck in max 09 here though. If these scripts work well I wouldnt bother trying one, but something tells me it wont be very intuitive.

I can't believe theres no free apps out there, you'd think someone would have rushed to it. Nowadays theres a free basic alternative to everything.

I would assume Blender has some retopo tools, if you're looking for free.

WrapIt (payware) for 3ds max does wonders too. I higly recommend it since 2012 support high polys imports pretty well.
