If you want to select every 2nd or 3rd or 4th, etc edges, just select the first edge, skip the desired number of edges and select the second edge, then execute the script.
If you want to see the time that script needs to make a selection, just start MAXScript Listener.
MaD: I think its build in since the 2010 update in max
Yeah, your probably right, but its such a pain in the ass to actually find it in the customize menu; its probably easier to use this script and bind it to a shortcut.
renderhjs, I tried to embed the video, but ..... Thank you
MaD, I don't have max 2010. I think that max 2010 use "Polyboost DotLoop"(Autodesk built in PB in max2010). In polyboost dotloop you have to set the value of edges to skip with spinner and then execute the script. With this two scripts you need only to select 2 edges - no spinner, no UI .
I made a script, that works like modo selection - with right and left arrow, but I have a seriuos problem, because I don't know how to save a variable value in the memory or INI filie, or somewhere else and then the script to read this value(this value is integer). If someone can help me I will be very grateful to him.
perna, this is my second script. I will try to make the script work with polys and verts, but I can't promise anything.
Yeah was thinking the same, not really good memories of my modo time at work. Kinda weird there's nothing assigned to double click in max.
@ miauu: It's just selecting your edge(s) and pressing a button now or assigning a short key ofc, if (as Brad said) you can locate where the damn thing is in your customize preferences ). You can also choose between regular and dot loop/ring, but the first one is kinda redundant since you can do a regular loop/ring just as easily with a dot loop/ring. So one short key for each, aint that bad .
Just gave this a shot, seems to work quite well overall, much nicer then dot loop. However doesn't appear to work in with the edit poly modifier, and plans on adding support for it in the future?

perna: Agree about faces and vertexes.
