3Dsmax: Taught Edge...

Hi All,

I'm looking for a script/method for taking all the verts along an edge and making them taught "straight" between two of those verts. Basically like pull a string straight so there is no slack.

I thought I remember seeing something like this awhile ago?

Scaling the verts in the axis you desire should also work.

Nice thing about the script is it preserves the end points. unless i misunderstand you scaling would mean you need to re rotate your edge if its at an angle.

Using an Editable Poly, if it's along a flat surface, under the "Edit Geometry" rollout you can use the X,Y, or Z functions to align a selection along a certain axis. Some of the new Graphite tools have some really great functions for straightening and aligning edges correctly as well.

Select the edges to straighten - Graphite tools - Loop Tools - Curvature - Straight.

Does anyone know a way to constrain this to Edge or Face? (Edit Geometry - Constraints - Edge/Face doesn't work)

r_fletch_r: Try the snap tool with 'retain component spacing' unchecked.
