Ok, So Im looking for a new game to play. I would prefer a diablo style game, but doesnt have to be exactly like it. heres what im looking for in a game
lots and lots of loot.
huge character development (level up system)
the ability to grind for gear, if i choose.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Ive played sacred 2 and borderlands lately. so something besides those.

was that stuff fixed?
The graphics are terribly dated but you will find loads of sick loot and armies (literally) of monsters to beat. Add great OST to the mix and you get one of my favourite games.

and erich, i dont have a wii!!! ive played that at my bros and i love it. but i dont have a wii yet.
Torchlight has been mentioned. TitanQuest is a popular Diablo-ish game.
Anyways, you could try WoW.
:P
Torchlight was an awesome game and I was gonna recommend it but Slipsius has already played it.
But seriously if you like levels and loot, Fallout is pretty great, lots of content to explore and lots of Download content to extend the game and they aren't even done with all the DLC, Vegas is coming.
Other ones would be.
Dungeons and dragons.
Dragon Raja
Dragon Age.
and yes, the Torchlight is a good one too!
Fallout 3 and Oblivion are both great, especially if you have all the DLC for them both. I picked them both up, including expansions, for $30 last week in the Steam sale.
Untold legends, I beta tested that game... 8 hours a day for 5 months straight *shiver*. Wish i could tell ya some cool bugs but they did a pretty good job of fixing everything.
To the OP:
Also try:
Guildwars Prophecies + Guildwar Eye Of the North
Guildwars Factions
Guildwars Nightfall
The game was far beyond amazing....The only downfall were the release dates...They could've had more than 10mil people playing it if they had extended release dates for the other parts of the Guildwars and reducing the few parts in the game..and keep on updating them.....Like the way wow works.
Cant wait to play GW2 though.
Silverfall and its expansion have enormous worlds... and the combat's pretty fun. Mostly for the same reason as TQ - sending ragdolls flying... unfortunately, it's not very balanced and the UI/story/whatever is just awful. However, the character and world graphics have a nice style and look good. (:
Took up at least 20-40 hours of my life a few summers ago. I didn't get very far, but my characters looked kinda cool... its alignment thing was steampunk/tech versus nature, could have been really awesome if only the UI etc was less horrendous.
Also, for some more action RPG style games to tide you over till D3, you could look at the Soldak games. Steven Peeler, the head code guy at Soldak is a pal to a few polycounters and he just put out a new game called Din's Curse (http://www.gameslave.co.uk/content/dins-curse-review/).
All Soldak's games are budget titles, but do some really neat mixing of random events, faction wars, hometowns that can get slaughtered by bad guys if you're not careful, etc... some very clever additions to the genre.
as for the guy that suggested playing WoW..... go F yourself :P haha sorry, haaate that game. by far, the worst MMO. there are FAR better ones.
I actually already have titan quest and the expansion. got the THQ pack on steam a few months back but never actually installed that one. now im definitely going to!
I played untold legends a while back. for psp right? that was fun. but i dunno where my charger is for my psp.
soooo, titan quest it is! thanks guys
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom
EDIT: Which reminded me that I have yet to pick up the golden axe: beast rider.
Thanks for the thread.
EDIT:
Since your emphasis was on the loot then you probably will want to also get a copy of TQ Vault for loot management.
zing zing zing zing zing.
Titan Quest I cannot advise. Beautiful game, but it almost bored me to death because of the combat that didn't change a single bit no matter what skills I got. I also found the loot to be... questionable - loads of useless crap and maybe only four or three major upgrades while playing through the whole game didn't do the trick for me. I liked D2 way better.
Lots of loot and pretty fun too.
Though if you want a challenge... dont go Nature Ranger I was totally OP
You want grinding? Good luck getting that Pure Bladestone!
(P.S. If you do get a Pure Bladestone, PM me immediately.)
demon souls looks pretty cool. Im kinda surprized no one suggested dungeon siege 2. great game. wish i knew where my copy was.
i
Id really recommend Monster Hunter 3, even though you dont have a wii. Loot is really fun in that game, in that they're all monster parts, that you can combine to make cool shit - and you need better, rarer, higher level parts to make awesome shit. If you can spare it, get a wii and MH3!! its amazing
FF13 was alsobig on the items and has tons of weapon types & upgrades available. Its a lot of fun once you get into it too!

If you have a good computer, buy the game and run it on emulator (wii games looks so much better on pc)...wait dont know if thats legal or not since you bought the game.
But you could try Allods Online: http://allods.gpotato.com/
If nothing else you will probably love looking at the art as so many have already said.
