Okay, so far we have myself, Paul and Andy confirmed for Saturday 5th. I'm thinking of maybe reserving a table for ten, and amending the reservation if and when we confirm more than that?
So we've got four so far - what about everyone else, including the OP? Seemed like there was more people interested towards the beginning of the thread, excluding those traveling from outside England!
Cool, so we're up to five, with another three possibles - I love it when a plan comes together....
The guy I spoke to at Nando's earlier said that they don't take reservations this far ahead of time and to call on Thursday evening or Friday morning, so it's all good.
Are socially retarded people welcome or is it best not to spread any awkwardness when everyone else is having fun?
Hmmm obviously no one is gonna say no because that is the socially acceptable thing to do. Are you feeling awkward already?

You should totally come, Yozora - don't feel weird, it'll be fine! Shall I pencil you in provisionally? There's no pressure, though - I wouldn't want you to feel like you have to come, if you're uncomfortable.
will definitely be coming. what time and station do i need to be?
Nearest Tube is Covent Garden, and I'll be making the reservation for about 6pm, unless that causes significant problems for anyone. I'll be reserving the table on Thursday or Friday, so plenty of time for people to confirm.
Would a good plan be to meet at the tube station beforehand? or Nandos?
We might have to email around each others numbers so theres not 6-9 people waitng around a few meters from each other, awkwardly glancing at one another.

pff, just put on your Polycount gear
And yes I think I'll come along anyway just for the exp.
Right, so apparently the only way Nando's will reserve the table for us is if we preorder the food beforehand, with an exact figure of what we're spending per head. The only way that could work is if everyone decided what they were ordering ahead of time, which I doubt everyone will want to do?
Guess we'll have to take our chances on the night, or have everyone decide what they want to eat beforehand.
If people do want to try securing the table, here's the menu:
So yea, there's some kind of frigging Zerg outside trafalgar square lol.
Which charing cross exit are we meeting at? And if anyone arrives early gimme a txt/call on 07972171378
Good stuff guys, was a fun evening
fearian, danshewan, Yozora: Nice to meet you guys, must do it again sometime!
almighty_gir: Good to see you again
metalliandy: Always a pleasure mate, good luck with that shiny AO!
Also I've done the maths and I think that if you average out the amount that almighty_gir talks with the amount that Yozora talks, you get enough talking for two people!
Had a great time, guys and it was awesome meeting everyone - definitely up for another meet sometime soon. Hopefully we can coordinate something in less than two months next time!
And you were right, Andy - I should have gone for the whole chicken, now I'm hungry again....
Everyone beat me home I wish I got the full chicken too.. I'm raiding the fridge!
Great meeting everyone, you're all awesome, count me in for the next one!
Looking forward to the upcoming threads:
"Why is my AO map glossy?!! HELP!!"
"Hard surface modelli- IDK WTF am I talking about?"
"Using kids to farm gold, a mini tut"

haha, yea I managed to confirm I was as bad as I expected to be. Socializing ain't my thing -.- Especially in bars! My ears aren't trained well enough to be able to focus on someone's speech over the loud music. I could barely hear the people sitting next to me. Why do people go into environments like that to chat!
I spoke more to Lee on the train back home than I did during the whole meetup But I guess thats only because he had to talk and I was the only one left over to bounce his words off of
I'm really looking forward to the glossy ao map discussion. And Ian you really shouldn't be making fun of the glossy ao map, you ended up sort of agreeing with him! Or was that just an act of sympathy?
Your first attempt at the hard surface sketch was just as bad as the glossy ao map anyway.
It was a good experience anyway, I like trying different things. Maybe next time I'll try talking.
Yozora: Totally agree about the loud music. I have no idea why bars/pubs which have nothing but tables and drinking areas insist on turning the music up super-loud ... there are no dance floors in the place, and I certainly didn't come there just to drink in silence and listen to their crappy choice of music.
We need to find a more appropriate venue next time with less noise and more space (probably quite difficult in central London any day of the week, no chance on Saturday night).
That said, I thought Nandos was a good starting point, the Covent Garden one is the swankiest Nando's I've ever been in!
nandos was indeed rather swanky. came complete with real spanish people!
the entire evening was very enjoyable, lots of good discussion but most of all, was totally sociable, almost like we'd known each other irl for a long time, i thoroughly enjoyed it!
and here's the pics:
the gang!

people get involved:
people start looking confused:
and then fearian says "i think i don't know what i'm talking about..."
and at exactly that moment, MoP and Andy go "DING!!!!"
Maybe shiny wasnt the best choice of words on my part but here is an example of what i meant.
I couldnt get anything better because my main PC is down, so this isnt a perfect bake by any means
Its almost as if the whole thing has a certain metallic sheen to it and is not as diffused as i would like.

Put me on the list
Covent Garden would be fine.
For those that are unfamiliar with Covent Garden:

Covent Garden, London

6pm work for everybody?
Is a whole chicken too much?
...i hope not. ^^
but it should be ok =]
Also, don't larolaro and Ani live in London? They should come too
danshewan: Tully has also expressed an interest in coming along, so put me down for two.

@Yozora
It would be a very sad day indeed when a man would turn down spicy chicken and this is not something i wish to see in my lifetime.
See you there!
are we just meeting for dinner? or meeting earlier in the day to go visit art places and start binge drinking?

but i still have MoPs number i think, and i remember what he looks like.
actually, thinking about it. it's a damned shame scoob isn't here for this, bloody interesting character...

I wish they'd have told me this last weekend when I tried calling, instead of waiting till now...
Look out for a tall skinny student in a 'where's wally' hoodie. (and a black eye)
That sucks man:/
Did you call the police?
I will be the skinny bald guy that's wearing a fat suit and a ponytail wig.
Hey man!
You can still come...its not till Saturday
Yup, its being handled. I'll save my mugging stories for the meet though!:poly124:
Also, Where are we meeting? I asked before but I didn't see an answer - Nandos, or the station?
As for orders, not really more than £10 for me, peri-peri chicken, chips and a drink.
Well, given that we can't reserve a table, maybe we should meet at Covent Garden station at 6pm?
so it'd be nice to have some company!
Unfortunately, I'm quite busy during the day, so I'll have to meet everyone at 6pm. So are we definitely meeting outside Covent Garden station?

That or im crazy...
I'd have to have a look at the source models to figure it out but it does look kinda like what you were describing, and it does look slightly wrong
Finally it all makes sense! :0
