Been playing this a lot. Loving it. Feels exactly like DoTA. I like that they force you to play out whatever game your in. If you quit or get disconnected, you can't just start a new game, they force you to rejoin the game you started until its over. That was one of the biggest downers in DoTA was all the quitters. LoL remedied that nicely.
This game's great. It feels like a very polished Dota, I like all the small tweaks they've added and the characters I've played so far are a lot of fun.
I signed up for the beta of HoN, but never actually settled down to play it. I never played DotA, and as such thought checking out the online community might be a good idea - only to be met with one of the most juvenile, hostile communities I've experienced since the WoW forums.
I've played both HoN and LoL and I definitely like LoL a lot better, and it's free to boot! I might give HoN another go soon though, just to switch it up a bit. Ah, who am I kidding. SC2!!!

That's awesome! I was trying to figure out how to create custom skins a while back but couldn't find anything. Seems like this is the place. Thanks! Oh and my name is Vrav there too. Might start playing more now.

Custom skins are incredibly easy.
You have a zip file in your LoL directory that has all the dds's. Just extract, edit, replace. Make sure you keep a backup!
another method is to edit an ini file that the game will check first. bit more complicated, though.
Local only, however it seems you don't have to replace the files in the zip if you create an open folder corresponding to the replaced contents, such as game\DATA\Characters\name. If the ini edit method you mention adds 'skin' options within the game, that would be pretty cool. (: I imagine then if everyone had the same unofficial skins installed and configured the same, it would change how you see your friends. But I'm just making that up because I don't know what complicated-ini-option is.
vrav - i believe it's the same as replacing the skin, just less obtrusively. the game searches the ini file and uses whatever skin you point towards instead of the default.
no way that i know of to get custom meshes in, though.
i made this a while ago, before they released the official skin
