Ok maybe not the best place to ask, but after finishing with a contract gig I was using max there. Now i'm thinkign of going freelance and it's time to buy some probs but max is a bit expensive, so I was thinking of moving to Modo... Yay or nay?
3ds max and Zbrush here !
I really want to try XSI but i don't have the time
Though I used maya on a previous game i was working on, but I never work with it at home (just becasue we had a "inhouse" UI and i can't find all I need with the basic UI (there's just too many stuff )).
Hmm... maybe I should've clicked "Other" as well for xNormal and Crazy Bump?
I don't think you had to. Because you can't create 3d meshes in these 2 apps.

Modo is great for modeling/UVing stuff. The "problem" occurs when you need to submit your files to your client and they really want Max or Maya files.
EDIT:
If you can get away with submitting LXO, or OBJ, then you should be fine. FBX, and Collada are also available but seem to have some problems from time to time.
+1 for C4D, that and Sketchup are the main apps I use at work for archviz. I use Max for anything game related though, with a touch of Modo here and there.
Hardly doing game art these days but if I do I use max. For archi stuff uni is stuffing maya down our throats, for that I prefer Rhinoceros, which is not listed.
I used to use Max mostly, but our studio switched over to 100% Maya pipeline a couple of years ago, so the vast majority of my time is spent in Maya now.
I still use Max at home, though, and I have a license of Max at work as well just in case
I like to keep my hand in on the latest versions of both apps, to try and be familiar with all the possibilities and workflows.
Maya, Zbrush, Max, Topogun, in order of frequency of use. I usually only jump into Max to use some of its tools or scripts which I don't have in Maya.:)
I checked Silo and Blender. I have used Mudbox in the past. Doing a lot of sculpting in an upcoming app that generates geometry dynamically... I find it's just as good, if still maturing. Sculptris by DrPetter. Really beefing up my sculpting skills in it.

2003 for shits 'n giggles (wut's zbrush?).
I thought u were frequent max user...hm...
What, no 3D coat love?
I'm guessing this is for primary content creation. Didn't bother hitting 'other' for the Xnormal/Photoshop/Crazybump etc that's in the pipeline.

I second this one bro ! Also trying to get into new Blender...
I prefer modelling in Max, but unwrapping I prefer in Maya
I used to prefer Max texture baking, but have recently converted towards Maya.
^_^
Know maya and max equaly good, abit of modo and lightwave. Houdini gives me a headache.
Me: Max, Mud, exclusively. (Though I'd love to learn Z.)
