Dragon Slaya!

Ive been working on some concept sketches lately for a project I have in mind. Heres some images of a dragon slayer design. The idea behind it is that he has to do a lot of rock climbing to get to his prey so he'll have ropes and hooks as well as climbing harness apparatus.

Heres a sketch of his axe which he will have two of. The axe also doubles as a sort of rock climbing tool to aid him on his climb.

Heres my zbrush sculpt over the last couple days,

Still need to tighten some areas like the elbows and hands but soon will go over it for detail pass.

Those are some nice concepts you got their. Having seen your (completely badass) Cthulhu model over at zbc am sure were in for some some amazing stuff. Will be keeping an eye on this one

Eyes seem a tad too small... like they need to be pulled out a bit more from their outer corners. Might just be me.. anyone else see it?

Other than that, I'm digging it!

Looks awesome, I hope you give his face a bit of assymetry in the end, bent nose some non symetrical wrinklage or moving / playing with the placement of the eye sockets or corners of the mouth.

Jon Rush: Good call. I made some changes and it looks way better.
Hazardous:yeah for sure, this is just blocking out the main forms and then I will resurface it
and make the asymmetrical changes, at least that the plan so far.

its coming along nicely. no crits really at this point, hair looks kinda small? from what you have in the concept, but im sure you didn't touch that part yet. cant wait to see more man:) this is gona be a sweet project.

Hey Porkpie,
Lookin good man! The only thing I'd say is that the hair in the sculpt doesn't seem to take up as much space on his noggin as it does in the concept. Do you plan on making it wider / thicker like the concept?

Thanks guys. Actually the hair is just a place holder. I plan to make the hair using shave and a haircut back in maya at a later time.

only critique if you dont mind... in my opinion the cap is a bit too high ...move her down so she fits better and looks better...

porkpie: yea i was gettin a reign of fire vibe from this guy too nicely done, are these your bakes or is your computer just fancy enough to open your high in maya? i think maybe the helmet is a little to high for a skull cap type some of the angles it seems a bit tall.

i agree on rigging geo over geo its a pain esp with maya and skin weights crap, i know there is a way for you to tell maya to have it inherit the weight info from the underlying geo, but ill be damned if i know how to do it, might be worth looking into if you decide to go that way.

Sick Render Porkpie! I agree with BeatKitano, not really feeling the cap. It looks nice, and is very well sculpted, but takes away from the 'edgeyness' of your character a bit.
