I just wanted to see if I could get some advice from a few of you more experienced Polycounters, since you never seen to let me down. :)

How soon would you guys recommend contacting a company following an art test submission? or even just a standard interview.

There is always that thin line of being anxious and wanting to know results, and or becoming a nuisance and killing your chances. I just wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions. Thanks!

Steven

You should send a thank-you email when you get home from an interview. Short and simple, just thank them for letting you visit them and say they had a great team.

Jeremy's one week follow up seems about right. But it helps to have another reason to pester them like you just updated your portfolio with a never before seen piece.

yeah bear in mind if there happens to be milestones near/whatever its super easy for them to overlook emailing back, no-one will bite your head off for doing a follow-up, Sectaurs' thankyou note sounds good, and vigs if you have anything. But I wouldnt delay just to make a new portfolio piece.

I started off where I am now as work experience, and i had to fone back about 8 times before I got in, just because of how busy things were at the time. I could have been all timid and given up, but I didnt. Just use common sense about whether itll piss them off or not (they kept saying, oh can you call back in 'x' time I'm busy), a quick passive reminder is good.

I'm in a similarish boat - I sent one brief followup email asking if they received it and if it was possible to get any feedback regarding the arttest. I'm wondering whether or not to do that again and if i were to do that... how to word it without coming off as a pain in the ass.

Unless there isnt a problem with something short and to the point? skirting around what you mean can be just as shitty. So, to follow up again? and if so with what kind of questions - or be blunt?

Whenever I have a phone interview, one of the questions I always ask at the end is "when should I expect to hear back from you". The answer I usually get is something along the lines of "we are doing phone interviews until next week, so we should be able to let you know by *certain* week. They usually encourage you to contact them if you don't hear from them by that time.

I've pretty much always heard back from then during the time they said they would contact me. Plus if you haven't heard from them during that week, you know when you should follow up, and there isn't any time spent wondering if you are going to hear from them.

I always send cupcakes 3 days after the interview...with sprinkles.

And a follow up email a week later. And if the cupcakes dont work, they just get a card.

Does the email read as followed

"You will get the antidote for the poisons cupcakes you consumed upon my papers of employment being signed."

*I suppose if you really want the job,, you could always go straight down to the carpark after the interview and threaten to key everyones car unless you have a signed contract there and then that day? ;P

*Advice I myself wouldnt follow, lol.
