It's a federal holiday I would think most studios will have it off unless they're crunching. What studio is it? Someone here might be able to tell you for sure.
Uhh...it's a no-name Texas studio. I don't feel comfortable to disclose the name right now 'cuz it's one of "those" craigslist listed jobs and uh maybe I'll say something if I get the gig. My second current freelance work right now is gonna end soon and I don't think the client will re-hire me cuz I botched his schedule so I need to land my 2nd job fast.
No prob, kind of a crapshoot then. I'd email them anyway and see if they respond, sometimes people check their work email over the weekend. If you really need to have it in on the first work day of the week, then plan on having it done by end of day Monday, and if they don't respond Monday then use the extra day to polish? I don't see the big deal in getting it in on Tuesday even if they are open on Monday. Unless they specifically told you to get it in by that day it shouldn't affect your chances. Just my 2 cents of course, every company is different.
There's no time requirement in the test but it was given to me by an actual office person (as opposed to a website download test) so I'm shooting for early next week.
There's one or two playoff games I wanna watch this weekend so I'm just checking if I can have some r&r instead of pulling serious late nights.
Good luck to other freelancers out there seeking work!
Memorial Day is one of those "popular" federal holidays that non-government entities (companies, etc) tend to observe as well. Unlike, say, Columbus Day (or as my part native wife likes to call it, "You're Dead And We're Still Here, Bitch" Day )
It is a federal holiday, that is to say, a national-government recognized holiday. Government offices and institutions are required to observe it. Private businesses are not. So unless you work for the government, whether or not this counts as a holiday for you depends on your employer.
For memorial day in particular, it is actually common for most companies to observe it. The companies that don't observe it are usually retail stores and restaurants, and even those will usually pay their employees extra to come in.
