Hey everyone. I'm new here to polycount. I'm glad to be part of the community. It's fun and really exciting to see other peoples awesome work. There's a lot of amazing stuff on here.

So I've been working on this piece for the past few weeks. I'd like it to be a nice portfolio piece when it's finished. My goal with this environment is to create a sci-fi scene that has a hand painted stylized look similar to games like Star Wars: The Old Republic, WoW, Deus Ex, and other games. I found SW:TOR to be really incredible artistically and I've really been inspired by that game. Anyway, the environment is a mix of indoor and outdoor and it's supposed to be a sort of "futuristic" water desalination plant.

I guess I've given myself mmo type limit. By that I mean I'm trying to keep everything as low poly/optimized as possible accompanied normal maps that really pop and push detail. The concept art I posted below is the image I'm using as inspiration for my scene. I wish I knew the artists name so I could give him or her credit but I found it so long ago and I no longer know where I found it. Still, I think it's a pretty nice piece of art. I'm keeping the basic layout the same but I'm doing my own thing to it.

I'd really appreciate comments, critiques, suggestions and just any feedback ya'll might have to help me improve this project.

looks really nice, i like it but comparing it to the concept, its scale is off. I know that you maybe don't want to replicate the concept 100% but making it look bigger might give it more awesomeness, at least make those walls taller like in the ref image

Yeah I would definitely add some height to the walls at least. Also, can't really tell but it looks like the walls at the top side are just using a normal to give it depth. Maybe you can add some geo in some places to make it pop out more?

It's looking good though overall, Keep at it!

Hey all. I haven't posted in a bit but I've made a lot of additions and changes to my sci fi scene. I've some more models and textures to make the environment seem less sparse. I'd like to get opinions, feedback and critiques from anybody that might have some.

I think I'm pretty close to finishing this project. There's one or two items I haven't textured. And I think I could use another tree because I can really tell the trees are the same tree just rotated. Also, I think I should make a skydome and add some buildings on the texture. And maybe some basic geo for buildings closer to the scene. Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts, please let me know. Thanks!

Have you got a sobel edge PP effect on this? It looks awesome! Kinda reminds me of Metal Gear Solid for some reason

Haha, yah, it has the sobel edge effect. I wish I could say I made the material myself. After trying to make it and not getting it to work properly, I found a link to download the effect.
