THQ XDG, External Development Group, is currently looking for an Art Production Manager. Located in Shanghai, China, this department is responsible for streamlining and managing THQs outsourcing pipeline working onsite with various vendors. XDG manages all art and technology outsourcing enabled with the ability to contribute to the development of all THQ titles worldwide.
The successful Art Production Manager will be up to date with all current generation console art workflows and preferably has held a position as a senior/lead artist role at a studio. He/She will be the primary point of contact for External Vendors while acting as the art contact point for studios and internal teams. The role would require dealing with multiple vendors in different time zones & cultures but primarily in China. International\Domestic travel will also be required as part of the job, traveling to studios and/or vendors alike. Having good teaching and mentorship skills is also a key part of this role, being able to demonstrate process and workflows.

Responsibilities:
Growth of Art Sourcing
Expand and grow studio sourcing capabilities by way of identifying and focusing on categories of art production that has potential growth with studio outsourcing project managers.
Unify process within vendors to streamline growth.
Manage relationships with studio art production staff and vendors.
Planning of Sourcing
Review studio job sheets and pipelines.
Audit art workflows and production pipelines which are setup at the vendors.
Review and assemble art teams for the sourcing job.
Interact with studios to gain clarity on art direction and production plans.
Work effectively with other XDG PMs to identify and validate any and all art risks to the project.
Validate Bids and estimates from Studios and Vendors.
Implementing and Executing of Sourcing
Prepare and manage the project bidding, testing and evaluation process with studio and vendor.
Manage setting up studio and vendor tool/communication process.
Identify the vendor skill set to match with the right projects.
Manage effective lines of communication with internal studio and vendor.
Identify any pipeline issues that might affect vendor or studios ability to meet production expectations.
Work with vendor to ensure vendor infrastructure\team sizes can support scope of Full Production.
Create project post-mortems with studio and vendor.
Requirements:
Ability to direct, identify and resolve conflicts in workflow and communication pipeline before it becomes a huge issue. Specifically, being able to direct and isolate art related workflow issues, and demonstrate a solution to these issues.
Well rounded understanding of Art concepts, combined with primary or secondary art skillsets in Character modeling /Environment Art/ Concepting.
Must have worked in a senior or lead role at a development studio.
Strong organization skills, attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to perform under pressure.
Ability to teach an mentor other artists in a structured manner.
Set an example to all team members by regularly demonstrating strong work ethics, quality of work, teamwork, motivation, and solid organizational skills.
Maintain effective and strong working relationships with internal studios, vendors, managers and coworkers.
Ability to work in tight production deadlines.
Qualifications/Education:
BA and art background preferred
3 5 years applicable industry related experience in art management/leadership/director roles.
Knowledge of applicable art software, Maya/Max/Zbrush/Photoshop.
Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
Must have Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task effectively.
Responsive to deadlines and work well under pressure.
Mandarin speaking not required but is a definite bonus.
