spawning meshes through particle fx

hey yinz. so i'm trying to spawn meshes through a particle effect. i set up a basic effect (the default sprite, you know) and i right click and go to Type Data>New Mesh Data. from there i add a static mesh to that module but nothing shows up in the preview or the game even after saving the package and rebuilding all. (of course, i checked to make sure the static mesh shows up in-game by itself first) i am using the most up to date udk and i admit i am new to particles in udk. any thoughts? any help is appreciated. thanks!
