Hi guys, i'm having major issues with my practice model (

1. aluminum frame
How can i build this frame without getting any bump?
I've tried as far as i can go to manage all supporting edges on those corners' area (
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/820/sc1qu.jpg/), where my situations are. And if you don't mind to take a deeper view, i have my project files contains details & view different solution, only none of them comes with a nice and clean surface.
Anyway i've started this frame with 52 width segs of plane, the only minimum amount that match the bp well. So increasing that geo = twice it to 104.
2. motor case
How should i begin the motor case with? It has two little vents in both sides to be done and I don't think i can start with a huge 130 segs of cylinder (
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/526/sc4v.jpg/). Moreover, same situation like above, managing supporting edges around these vents will lead me to another dead end.
That is a model i've been doing as a newbie to get deeper about max and supposed to be a highpoly subD model.
So get this issues done is means a lot. Any help please?

I see your issue. If you add in the cuts that would make the corner how you wanted, it would affect the smoothness of the top of the frame.
Well, I guess I have two idea on this, with the first one being separate the mesh. Does it really need to be one piece? That would fix your edge flow issue really simply.
If it does, are you in Maya by chance? You could probably just "crease" it. Not sure if Max has something similar to this.
I would also go through every page on this thread and look for ideas: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56014
I'm 3ds max user only and don't know anything at all other than 3ds max
