Hi guys,
I'm busy writing an article for a magazine regarding modding, and one of my sections wants to talk about using it as a foot-in-the door opportunity when getting yourself into the industry or otherwise helping your portfolio. Does anyone have any experiences they'd like to share (and if so, let me know if I can quote you)?. I'm particularly interested in where you started, what you did, and how it helped you get your first games industry gig.
Thanks!

Me not, unfortunately. The project name was tactical-assault,and it's dead.
In terms of what you mentioned about getting started and landing that first job, I'd say its important to keep adding content and improving your work as much as you can and most importantly, being honest with yourself - finding out if what you're doing is enough and if you can do better. Also, network like crazy - go to events, meet people and exchange skype's or MSN's, and post your work on forums (e.g. Epic Games has a part of their forum dedicated to finding work, etc.) Just my 2 pennies
