My intention is to create a hyper-realistic M60A3 with materials.
I started with the measurements from the Army Technical Manual and created the road wheels, drive sprocket, support rollers and idler wheel to the exact measurements. Probably a mistake to start this way as the reference orthos I found at the-blueprints.com are not matching up. Going to have to massage some of the locations.
I have 88 tracks atm which is the correct number, but I didn't know what the actual spacing was on them. I have track dimensions for an individual section which place the length at a few hundredths under six inches. I decided for the sake of sanity to make the tracks 5.95 and place them six inches on center. I will probably wind up with about 95 tracks by the time all is said and done. Hopefully General Dynamics will not be relying on me if they lose their drawings.
I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out the lines for the hull. With the help of the TMs though I should have something figured out in the next day or two. Planning this thing is taking way more time than modeling. I may buy the ESCI or Revell model kit for my own reference.
C&C is openly welcomed.
