@gilesruscoe: The little blade doohickeys were pretty simple, just a few supporting loops to pinch the areas. I feel like there was probably a better way, but I just brute forced it



@Seirei: The damascus effect was also surprisingly simple, the effect is mostly done through the specular, and I added a couple of rainbow gradients to help push the effect and get some neat color variation in it. I actually used a combination of handpainted and wood grain for the pattern. You can see the spec here in the tex sheet:
