Very nice man!, very nice finish on the metal for sure, really makes it pop. Im still not a fan of the 47u's muzzle, alsways reminded me of the class blunder bust. What package are you using to lay down the diffuse?
Just photoshop and textures from CGTextures/Mayang. The diffuse is actually pretty weak, it's mostly the specular creating that effect (and IMO specular is what really makes metal convincing so I work primarily inside that)
very nice, i always found with photoshop it was hard to get an overall grasp of how it looked but amazing control. Had to have marmoset open constantly, sliding towards mudbox more these days. can we see the updated spec/ diff layouts??
Looks great. Your texture work is awesome. Have you thought about adding some damage to the wood surface? the metal has some nice wear, but the wood looks a bit untouched
In the end, I just opted to using photobased damage like Racer shows in his excellent tutorial. Handpainting was arduous and didn't yield satisfactory results.
Always awesome work from you Mili.
Care to do a short tutorial on how you go around doing the textures? I'd love to see that!
Racer's tutorial here is pretty close to the workflow I use nowadays, I took some pointers from him and adapted it to my own workflow/style.
In other news, I'm also making some attachments for this because I intend on putting it in Fallout: New Vegas as well and you can use three in-game mods for weapons (I'm planning silencer, drum mag and optics). Already did the silencer:

i am assuming that that 4th texture is a secondary gloss map of sorts? i feel like a nub asking this. haha.
Starting to get a good feel for the metals, especially the lower receiver I'm satisfied with.

wanna spill the beans on some of these tricks you've learnt? would be a nice read.

Sure, here's a p3d.in so you can look at it and jazz

(wonky smoothing is caused by p3d, it should look perfect in all my target engines)
Yeah, it's fun to do stuff like this, I should make it a habit
You should post this on Crydev they will surely love it!
