So the plan with this guy. Full project all the way through as my portfolio needs some new personal art and much more textured objects.
WORLD WAR ROBOT - LARGE MARTINSome presentation / mood ideas
Summary
I've been a fan of Ashley Wood's work forever now and finally getting around to getting one of the robots from the World War Robot series modeled out. So I picked the
Large Martin version. He's a monster and the paint variations on this guy are fantastic.
The series consists of vinyl toys, comics and art books with Woods oil paintings in them. As such the paintings are very loose and don't focus on the details too much. Same with the toys. So I plan on adding some extra pieces to help assemble the models and add to them.
My plan for this piece:- Make a nice High Poly with a few extra pieces
- Zbrush work on the pouches and possible variant versions (want to keep the damage on the main body to a minimum as I want to paint variations on the paint scheme)
- Small Environment (diorama) for him to be displayed in
- Break down of workflow (rendering, texturing, etc) along with streaming on livestream
- Build and assemble scene out in UDK

Can't wait to see this guy all dinged up and put through some war.
Yeah from his amazing World War Robot collection.
This is Large Martin. He's a big one. Almost 10 feet tall.

Join me, listen to music, tell me I suck and watch me break 3ds max over and over again...
Cool that you are streaming this, hope more people will start to do this.
Model looks really solid
For some reason it didn't save my first recording... and i got the name messed up on the 3rd but ehhh...
anways back at it... trying to wrap up the hp tonight or get close.
So up next is the backpacks... Easily going to be the hardest part of this model for myself...
Yeah he's more of an artillary type guy. Softens up the forces for the smaller robots and troops to move in. He's a slower moving guy. His hands are these huge mashing things for defense up close but that is about it.
It's been fun watching you lately. (I've just been an anonymous spectator).
Thanks... Yeah I def rage quit on that first go at the bags and just wiped em out... Sometimes that helps...
Zbrushing the backpacks
Progress on the back packs... not trying to go overly detailed on these. Mainly just get some decent forms to bake from...
