Senior Character Artist

Phosphor Games Studio is currently seeking a talented and experienced Character Artist to work on our exciting original iOS game. Applicants must have experience in working within the technical design parameters of Unreal, the ability to work from concepts and collaborate with the character team to create visually stunning results leading to AAA titles.

Job Description:
The senior character artist will:
· Work closely with Art Director and project art lead to ensure highest quality of character artwork
· Create models, UV maps and textures, in both high and low poly using Max/Maya and Zbrush
· Have extensive experience in Unreal
· Act as mentor to less experienced artists

Responsibilities:
Handle technical aspects of character creation, including pipeline, shaders, character skinning, and implementation in-game
Experience with skeleton/rig creation
Ability to work in a variety of artistic styles and game genres
Work with the development director to schedule and track character art efforts
Meet project deadlines / milestones as agreed to in planning sessions
Mentor character artists in best practices/ processes.
Manage character outsourcing as needed

Qualifications:
Unreal Engine 3
Minimum of 5 years of experience in character modeling
Minimum 2 titles shipped with credit in the role of Character artist
Exemplary communication skills, oral and written
Receptive to working in collaboration with game team
Strong technical aptitude related to 3D modeling tools and game engine technologies.
Work and direct in a wide range of artistic styles, maintaining the appropriate style over the course of the project.
Fluent knowledge of Maya or 3ds Max and Photoshop (Maya preferred)
Experience with real-time shaders is a plus
Excellent problem solving skills
Genuine enthusiasm and interest in video games

Sample Work Required:
Samples of 3D Character work showing wire frames and texture work
If portfolio does not contain certain specific kinds of work, applicant may be asked to create one or more samples based on provided guidelines and specifications
