Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG) is a segment of The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) responsible for the creation and delivery of Disney branded interactive entertainment and informational content across multiple platforms including online, mobile and video game consoles around the globe. Artist (Lighting) The ideal Lighting Artist is both an outstanding artist and technically proficient in generating game-useable, efficient material. The position requires a balance of technical, game implementation work and art production. The successful candidate will work with the level creation team and apply their superior lighting skills to ensure environments of the highest visual quality.
This is a leased position which will be paid through a staffing agency. The position is on-site in Austin, Texas and currently scheduled to last 4-6 months.
Responsibilites
Apply lighting skills to create high impact visual environments, ensuring work is of the highest possible quality
Creating dynamic light rigs, along with setting up atmospheric vertex and lightmap baked lighting models as well as volumetric effects.
Maintain a consistent art style under the direction of the Visual Development Director
Document & communicate clear technical guidelines for lighting creation and implementation.
Report into the Art Director for the duration of a project
Qualifications
3-6 years of experience
Can demonstrate knowledge of various game lighting techniques such as vertex and lightmap, baking, dynamic lighting and shadowing
Must have thorough knowledge of color theory and lighting techniques with a proven eye for detail, style, and ability to create mood through light and shadow, as demonstrated by a top-rate portfolio or demo reel
Ability to problem solve and associate in a dynamic, deadline-oriented team environment
Proficient in Maya (or software relevant to expertise category)
Demonstrate traditional art skills and creativity
Thorough understanding of technical limitations of current game platforms
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
