Sketchfab, you've made your own thread for that, seems a bit cheeky/tacky to pimp it in the p3d thread too:

    http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=102826

Anyway, back on topic... I wandered over to p3d earlier to see if anything had been improved since I last saw it, and it seems we can now try out the "plus" beta for free, larger size limits (wasn't an issue for me anyway), annnnd .png with alpha! Which I do want to play with soon.

    Anywho, benefits are here:

This is maybe not the thread to discuss this next bit, but I read that they're thinking of charging $8 - $10 a month for the "plus" service. I can't see myself wanting to fork over a monthly subscription for something like this, but I haven't put much thought into it yet.

it is probably costing them some bandwidth I guess but that's rather heavy handed charging per month. Why not charge per model but only if you go over a certain free amount of bandwidth eg 500mb free bandwidth then either pay or the model link gets shut down maybe that could work? but you would have to stop them just reuploading hehe

I could really only see myself paying one time for a full featured version of a 3d model viewer for a website if I could host everything on my website and not rely on the service for hosting.

yeah personally I use unity and make my own viewer at the moment, that way I can control how the user interacts with it and what shaders are used etc
