Hello there Polycount Community,
I've flown over this website a few times, and I finally decided to sign up.
I've been interested in game programming for quite a while, but recently i discovered that the actual level design/art is even more attractive.
I'm only 15 years old (I hope everybody here is serious enough to not prejudge me on that) and i'm interested in modeling in Maya and making levels in UDK.
I've been thinking about rebuilding the "Classic" Half-Life in UDK with some more detail, but i believe i have a long way to go to actually be able to do that.
I hope we'll all get along

Think more realistically than just remaking. Start small.
Take a look at Scott Joneses dissertation here http://www.polycount.com/2011/08/17/modular-design-research-paper/
It might be a big help for such a project by speeding things up with modular design.
Too late for that though, as you can see.
Just don't keep bringing it up or you'll end up being remembered like how I remember Taylor Hood (that's not a good thing).
@Vio I'm not embarrased to be young (Is 15 "Really young"?)
Also i'll look into the research, it seems interesting
That's actually Scott Jones' dissertation, not Mark's.
Welcome to Polycount! I got into games around your age, its a good age to start!
I played my first game even longer ago. Does anyone know Nijntje?
Ah right you are, cheers I put it in the edit.
EDIT: In this case of course when the majority is talking about it :P
The internet is anonymous, and if you make good art here, or ask good questions and put in the time and effort to learn and take advice, it doesn't matter how old you are
With that said, welcome!
I think i might start by modelling the Aperture Science Weighted Companion cube. I admit, it's not a very original idea, but i have to start somewhere
