Maya - Rendering Animations / AE fuzziness

mod
Im just wondering if anyone has an good tutorials for very basic render setups to get a good monotone thing going on. Good shadows and what not. Im trying to redo my reel, but need to re-render a bunch of things.

Also, When i do batch renders at 720hd, I bring the image sequence into after effects (or premeire) and every time, they get fuzzy and lose a lot of quality. I can't seem to figure out why. Does anyone know what might cause this?

Thanks

Have you thought about using Marmorset? You can do some cool stuff and there is tons of information on the net for that. But i have never tried that personally, so i don't really know.

About that quality loss, i asked a co-worker:

if the quality loss is already in the rendering:

set the Filter in the multi-pixel Filtering under the Quality Tab of the Render Settings to mitchell and set the value to 3. Gives you a crisper result apparently. (edit: if you're using Maya)

if the quality loss is actually in AE once importing:

go to the layer options and set the anchor point and position to a full value. Like if its 0,5 set it to 1. The only exception is if both have the same value. It's something called "sub-pixel precision" and that can sometimes cause quality loss and pixel blurring. Again, from what i was told. :D

    Maybe that helps.

Thanks for asking your coworker! It's definitely quality loss in AE itself. The renders are perfect. Even my title cards made in photoshop are fuzzy >:( Ill check it out tonight! I was also told this on 11secondclub, But I dont know if that square pixels is default or not. I shall see tonight. :) Then again, that's premiere. So its probably the same thing, just different places in the program. called different things
