Hey PC. I'm in the process of trying to create a normal map for my floor piece to go in my sci fi UDK environment. I've tried rendering it using both xnormal and render to texture, and neither are really working and generally giving me some weird junk. I've unwrapped it a whole bunch of times but it keeps giving me this weird error. The strangest thing is that because the unwrap appears to be fine, when applied, the normal map doesnt even correspond to the mesh. Surely this cant be the unwrap then? This is rendering it with xnormal but render to texture gives me similar results (and doesnt even pick up any hi-res features).
My unwrap - Fine right?

And when applied to the mesh . . .

Does anybody know why it's all messing up? I've made dozens of maps this exact same way but this has never happened before, it's incredibly frustrating.
Thanks.

i forget about that a lot too when using max, since im mainly a maya user, and don't need to do that.
